Conference details

We are looking forward to meeting you in London very soon. For your convenience we have highlighted below special details regarding the conference and the social events. Registration and Information Desk

All attendees must be registered for the conference and are required to wear their conference badge (which you will receive at registration) at all times.

Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner

A welcome reception will be held in the Danubius Hotel on Saturday 25 September at 7.00pm. The conference dinner will take place on the evening of Monday 27 September and will be a trip on the London Eye followed by a traditional English meal in Porters Restaurant. The cost for dinner is included as part of the conference registration. Further details will be provided on arrival

Conference Abstracts

After the conference some of the abstracts will be available for viewing on the ISFR website: www.fractures.com ; If you do not wish you abstract to be viewed on the website please advise us during the conference.

Conference Plenary Session

The conference plenary sessions will be held in the Denis Compton Suite.

Information for Speakers

The Speakers preparation room is located adjacent to the main conference room, the Tom Graveney Suite. Speakers are requested to visit this room at least the day before their allotted presentation time to allow for upload and testing of presentation elements. A member of the organising committee along with an IT technician will be present to assist with any queries.

In order to ensure the smooth running of the presentations, speakers are advised of the following:

  • Speakers are requested to be in their session room 10 minutes before the start of the session, and we request that you introduce yourself to the chair of your session.

  • Each presentation (except sponsor presenters and the oral posters in Session One) has been assigned 15 minutes per presentation, 12 minutes for each presentation and 3 minutes for Q & A.

  • Each chairperson will monitor your presentation time keeping.

  • Mac users must check their presentation is compatible with our PC based system.

  • Please check all your videos run properly in the presentation preparation room.

  • Speakers are requested to bring their presentations to the Speaker room on USB.

  • Speakers are advised to familiarise themselves with the room prior to the presentation.

Posters

Posters will be displayed from Sunday 26 until Tuesday 28 September.

  • The poster area is located along with sponsors and exhibitors in the Park Suite.

  • Poster boards will be arranged numerically and organised in area of topic to correspond with the poster abstract list in this programme.

  • Poster abstracts will be uploaded onto the ISFR website after the conference – please complete the information on your poster board and return to registration to indicate that you wish/do not wish for your poster to be viewed on the website.

  • Presenters will have access to set up their posters from Saturday.

  • Coffee will be provided in this area.

Dining during the Conference

Lunch and coffee breaks are included as part of the conference registration. All dietary requirements have been catered for during lunches. If you require anything additional, simply ask a member of the hotel staff. A selected list of restaurants is provided in your delegate pack.

Message Board

For your convenience, a message board will be located at the registration desk in the hotel lobby.

Meeting and Future Event Literature

Organisers of educational meetings and events may display their materials at the registration desk from Monday 27 September.

Mobile Phones

Delegates are reminded to ensure all mobile phones are switched off during the conference plenary session.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted in the UK in any public area or building, and there is no smoking allowed in any of the conference meeting areas or public spaces. There are designated smoking areas outside the hotel, and delegates are requested not to litter in these areas. The smoking ban applies to restaurants, bars, cafes and all public venues.

Tourism Activities

The hotel concierge will be able to provide tourism information during the conference.

Wi-Fi

The Conference organisers have arranged with the hotel for free wi-fi for delegates staying in the hotel.

Lost & Found

During the conference, any lost property should be brought to the conference registration desk.

Liability & Insurance

The organisers of the ISFR Conference 2010 reserve the right to alter any of the programme or other arrangements for the meeting including cancellation or postponement of any part of the event should unforeseen circumstances arise. The organisers accept no responsibility for resulting costs or inconvenience to participants in this case. The organisers of ISFR Conference 2010 accept no liability for participant personal injuries or loss/damage to property while in attendance or as a result of the conference or social events. Participants are requested to have their own travel insurance and are responsible for all travel arrangements.

How to Find Us:

From the M1

Take the M1 to the end then join the A41 heading towards Central London. Go along Hendon Way to the top end, then make a right along Finchley Road, go through Swiss Cottage, then onto Wellington Road, to the roundabout, where you take the second exit (straight), and then almost immediately make a right into Lodge Road.

From the M20

Take the M20 to Swanley By Pass, where you will travel on the A20, which will bring you to the A2. Turn left on the A2 along New Cross Road then stay on the A2 until the end of the Old Kent Road. You will join the A201 along the New Kent Road, through Elephant & Castle, and along London Road, Blackfriars Road, Blackfriars Bridge, Farringdon Street, Kings Cross Road, then make a left into the A501, and travel westwards along Euston Road. As soon as you pass Regents Park Station, prepare to turn right into York Gate at the third traffic light down the road, which will bring you onto the outer circle of Regents Park. There make a left turn and travel along for approx. 800yards, then turn left into Hanover Gate, then right into Park Road, then the first left into Lodge Road.From the M3/M40/A40(M)

Take the M3 to junction 12 on the M25 then travel northwards to junction 16, where you join the M40 (East), travel eastwards along the M40, which will bring you onto the A40 (M). Stay on the A40(M) heading towards Central London, until you arrive at Marylebone Road, and then turn left at the second set of traffic lights into Lisson Grove, travel along Lisson Grove for approx. 600 yards, until you get to Lodge Road, where you have to turn right. Travel along Lodge Road for approx. 200 yards then turn left into the hotel entrance.From the M11

Take the M11 to the A406, then to the A105, and then the A503 into Camden Town, along Camden Road, at the end turn left into Bayham Street, then turn right into Pratt Street, then cross over Camden High Street into Delancy Street, which brings you onto Regents Park Road. Travel approx. 500 yards then turn left past the church into St. Marks Square, then turn right into Prince Albert Road, until you reach the roundabout, where you make a left turn into Park Road, then almost immediately turn right into Lodge Road. By Tube:

Take the Jubilee line to St. John’s Wood. Turn left out of the station onto Wellington Road. Walk to the end of the road for approx. 5mins. At the end of Wellington Road, cross the lights, turn left onto Park Road, then take first right into Lodge Road, where the entrance is. This will take approx. 7–10mins. Alternatively, you can take the tube to Baker Street Station using either, the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines and take a short walk up to Park Road until you reach Lodge Road. Turn left and the Hotel entrance is 50 yards on your right hand side. Approx. 15mins.Nearest Airport: London City (Approx. 10 miles) Take the Dockland Railway to Stratford, and then join the Jubilee line to St. John’s Wood Station.

Take the Shuttle Bus to Liverpool Street Station, between 07:20 – 20:40hrs, then travel on the Underground to St. John’s Wood Station.

A taxi would cost approx. £35.

Heathrow Airport (Approx. 17 miles)Take the Piccadilly Line to Green Park then the Jubilee line to St. John’s Wood.

Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, then either get connected to the Jubilee line to St. John’s Wood or take a taxi that might cost about £7.

Alternatively, from Paddington Station, take Praed Street towards Edgware Road, turn right at the end and take a bus (16, 98, 6), and ask to be dropped off at St. John’s Wood Road. Then walk all the way to the end, bear right into Park Road, and then take first right onto Lodge Road where we are.

Take the Air Bus to Baker Street, then a 5 minute taxi journey A taxi would cost approx. £40 - £50.

Gatwick Airport (Approx. 45 miles)

Take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station. Then get the Victoria line to Green Park station then the Jubilee line to St. John’s Wood or alternatively, on bus #82 which stops 50 yards away from the hotel.

A taxi from Victoria would cost approx. £10 - £15 Luton Airport (Approx. 33 miles)Take the train to Kings Cross or St. Pancras then 15 mins taxi journey.

A taxi would cost approx. £70 - £80.

Take the Greenline Bus to Wellington Road, London NW8 Prices are just an indication and can change.

Stansted Airport (Approx. 45 miles)Take the train to Liverpool Street

Station then 25 mins taxi journey.

A taxi would cost approx. £70 - £80.

Take the National Express to Park Road stop then 2 mins walk to the Hotel .
